Dr. Stefan Spycher has been CEO of the Careum Foundation since October 2020. Previously, he was Vice Director of the Federal Office of Public Health (2008-2020), Head of the Swiss Health Observatory (www.obsan.ch) (2006-2008), and Co-owner and Managing Director of the Bureau for Labour and Social Policy Studies (www.buerobass.ch) (1992-2006).

Obsan and BASS develop scientific foundations for policy. Stefan Spycher studied economics and political science in Bern, Basel and Bonn. He wrote his dissertation on risk equalization in health insurance.

Stefan Spycher is married, has two grown-up children and lives in Zurich.
